Devious Journal Entry

Fri Mar 4, 2005, 6:18 PM
Please read this entire entry before asking me to do any work for you. Thank you

Hello. Returning from a very long haitus. I apologize for all the works I have not gotten to. I'll be returning the ones I started on, but unless the original asker reposts their request, I'll not be doing any more on those pieces. I apologize greatly for this inconvenience, but if I don't do that, I'll find myself quickly over-whelmed.

Looking to have your prose/poetry critiqued? (Read More...)

Please keep in mind that I do have a job and a life outside of DA. I give prospective dates for when the piece will be returned judging on the pieces I've already recieved and the length of your piece, along with the nonsense that gets tossed my way in real life.

You are welcome to critique anything in my gallery. :)

I found your post on one of my watched buds and hope you don't mind me adding you to my lists for future reference. I am constantly looking for an educated critic on some of my thoughts and would be highly honored if I could send you any works for your thoughts and input.

Thanks for all your help and Happy holidays.

Personal and family matters have come up and I'm going to be out of town and unplugged until after the 1st.

If you'll please note me with any works you'd like criticism on, I'll be more than willing to look at them after I return (however, there is a rather long line at this moment, but hopefully I'll return rather industrious!).

You're more than kind, you're a savior. Thanks buddy. It really means a lot to me and I hope your holidays go well (don't let the load get too much over ya head).

I have to say that my wife * toxic-erotica and I are in total disagreement with your stance on the so called comment revolution.

Comment to recieve comments is a self-serving program that generates useless spam comments for the sole purpose of promoting your own work.

I don't believe it promotes community or helps to generate constructive criticism of anyone's work.

Indeed, even though my wife is a staunch supporter of the comment revolution, she does not comment to recieve comments herself. She only comments on submissions to provide helpful feedback and never asks for people to leave her comments to generate statistical 'boast-rights'.

I applaud your principled stance.

Sorry for any typing errors, I'm rushed.

Optumystic,
I've just replied to your wife's comment on my front page and would appreciate it if you read it as well (it's in a note, but I'm sure she can either show it to you or forward it to you).

"Comment to recieve comments is a self-serving program that generates useless spam comments for the sole purpose of promoting your own work.

"

I absolutely agree with this. I have no issue with what the 'comment revolution' started as, I have an issue with what it has turned into. Which is basically a group-stroke without any real substance.

"Indeed, even though my wife is a staunch supporter of the comment revolution, she does not comment to recieve comments herself. She only comments on submissions to provide helpful feedback and never asks for people to leave her comments to generate statistical 'boast-rights'."

I definitely applaud that. She's doing exactly what I'm doing but in a different way. Two methods to the same goal.

Not to worry about typing errors, keyboards are useful but definitely no one's friend. =)

Like she said.

The comment revolution is stupid. Trust me on that. ~anon, here is on the level. Unlike most critics, here on dA. Which is sad. Very sad.

Oh fucking well. *grin* Take a penny, give a penny.

Hey cooder. I am not in critique mode, right now. So I don't have any fresh meat for you. I could send you what I find, but I ain't really looking too hard. Check out my activity list, if you wish. That may find you something to stare/say at. I dunno.

Be cool.

You came by my page, and I thought I'd return the favor and check out the new stranger who gave me a pageview, as it doesn't happen very often.

Then, I got sidetracked by your very long and in-depth journal entry and I must say a few things.

First of all- Erotica is the romantic side of sex and sexual encounters. Grossly descriptive "dirty" sex is porn. Please make this distinction in your journal entry. As an erotica/romance writer I am highly offended you would refer to my work in such an erroneous manner.

Secondly, your quote has either been copied or types incorrectly. I believe you mean it to read: "Love your art; quit berating yourself." Which reads much more easily than "Love your art. Quite berating yourself."

Thirdly I would like to point out your obvious aggression against the comment for comments movement. This movement is an act created by and for the DevArt society - by a member of this society, in promotion of this society. This website was designed for the sharing of art- as a community. I see no reason for any member to strike out at the promotion of community activity by members of that community.

While I must admit that shameless self promotion does have a place, even in this community, I must tell you I'm completely shocked that anyone would advocate the "wrongness" of "kindness begets kindness" in any of it's forms.

Perhaps it is not the comment revolution that should be changed, but the membership status of anyone who would try to stop the admin from promoting community unity and participation.
